We are looking for kind, reliable, and thoughtful Personal Assistants (PA) to join a small, supportive team providing companionship and gentle support to an 88 year old woman with dementia living in her own home in Lerwick.

She is a creative and gentle person who enjoys reading, drawing, and spending time in her studio overlooking the sea, as well as keeping an eye on her garden. She values calm, reassuring company and a peaceful environment.

About the Role

This is a flexible position, with hours available across:

• Evenings

• Weekend days

• Sleeping night shifts (sleepovers)

Support will mainly involve:

• Providing companionship and reassurance

• Supporting general wellbeing

• Preparing and cooking simple meals

• Light household tasks

• Encouraging gentle exercise and a relaxed evening routine

• Prompting with medication when needed

No personal care is required.

About You

We are looking for someone who:

• Has experience supporting people with dementia

• Is calm, patient, and compassionate

• Enjoys creative or quiet activities such as reading, knitting, or drawing

• Is comfortable sharing space quietly while also offering gentle engagement

• Communicates in a reassuring, supportive way

• Likes cats

Additional Information

• Hours are flexible and can be coordinated alongside our family and full-time PA’s.

• We may be looking to recruit more than one PA
